UNITY IN DURBAN

Multi-racial worship (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) Durban, Nov. 23. More than 2000 Anglicans celebrated Communion with the Archbishop of Canterbury (Dr Michael Ramsay) at a multi-racial service in the city hall in Durban yesterday.

Dr Ramsey, who is on a three-week tour of South Africa, preached the sermon after 20 ministers—lndians. Africans, and whites—had officiated at the Communion ceremony. The 90-minute service was held in both the English and Zulu languages.

It was one of the largest such ministrations held in Durban, the 2500 seats in the hall having ben taken long before the service was due to begin.

“When today’s service is over, all of us will go back to our parishes, but we will not quickly forget today,” Dr Ramsey told the congregation. "... It is a great prophesy of the true realisation of Christian fellowship.”

Dr Ramsey will preach at an evensong for Indians today, and will later meet Christian and non-Christian leaders of the Indian community at a private dinner party.
