Petrol tax
Sir, —Petrol will now be taxed twice. One alternative that has not been mentioned yet is for the Government to
have a loan board for the whole of New Zealand, to which all councils and counties apply for loan money. If the Wool Board could be supplied by the Government, when it wanted funds, with $1,800,000 at 1 per cent from the Reserve Bank, surely the Loans Board could get its funds from the same source. With loans obtained at 1 per cent interest, rates could be reduced. What have all our financial experts* got to say about this way out?—Yours, etc., NATIONAL CREDIT. November 17, 1970.
