Letters on television topics are subject to the rules applying to general correspondentce. “SOFTLY, SOFTLY” While I do not have the statistics which lead you to assume that "Softly, Softly” has a greater following than “Marcus Welby, M.D.,” 1 would strongly dispute its authenticity. The cops always catch their dim-witted victim, with exactly the same methods, the same number of “bloodies,”’ and the same dreadful stories. Also, “Softly, Softly” had peakviewing time in its earlier series. I am one of many grateful for the change to “Marcus Welby,” which I enjoy. One programme should not enjoy peak time each series.
