Week-end accidents
Serious head injuries were suffered by lan William Hawkins, of 347 Armagh Street, when the van in which he was a pasitenger turned over in Gloucester Street at 4 a.m. yesterday. He was admitted to Christchurch Hospital where his condition was described last evening as poor.
lan Johnson, of 8 Mount Pleasant Road, was admitted to Christchurch Hospital with moderately serious leg injuries when he was struck by a car in Madras Street at 11.25 pjtL on Saturday. His condition last evening was fairly satisfactory. The driver of the car, Clive George Davis, of 35 Gordon Avenue, collapsed with shock
and was taken to Christchurch Hospital. He was treated and discharged. Miss Janice Clayworth, of 873 Colombo Street, was in a fair condition in Christchurch Hospital last evening after being admitted on Saturday evening when two cars collided at the intersection of Woodham Road and Avonside Drive. She suffered head and internal injuries. Miss Phillipa Grey, of the same address, was admitted to Princess Margaret Hospital with head and leg injuries Her condition last evening was comfortable.' Miss Ellen Christine Schutte, of 19 Ashmole Street was in a fairly comfortable condition in Princess Margaret Hospital last evening after being admitted when her bicycle and a car collided outside her home on Saturday afternoon.
Peter Connolly of 62 Boon Hay Road, suffered moderately serious head, leg and arm injuries when a car struck a power pole at the intersection of Spencer Street and Lincoln Avenue at 7 a.m. on Sunday. His condition last evening was satisfactory.
