Record tally
G. D. V. Pulley’s return of nine for 70 after a long, accurate spell for EastShirlev against West-Uni-versity on Saturday, was a record for his chib in senior cricket. The only other player from East Christchurch (as the club was then named) to take nine wickets in an innings was I. McK. Sinclair. Eighteen years ago, in his first season of senior cricket, Sinclair—who was later a test off-spinner—-took nine for 94 against High School Old Boys. Statistically, one of the best bowling returns by a player from the club was S. M. Betty’s eight for 12 against Old Collegians in 1954-55.
