BIG THEFT IN 1968
Attorney-Gen. sues men (N.Z. Pr«s> Aa.oclation) BLENHEIM. A claim by the AttorneyGeneral for $4249 plus interest being the unrecovered balance of money stolen from the Blenheim Post Office in 1968 has been settled out of court. The two defendants named in the action, Raymond Harry Hancock and Geoffrey Blandford Sergeant, both of Blenheim, served terms of imprisonment after being convicted in 1968 for the $51,000 theft
After numerous adjournments, the claim was set down for hearing before Mr Justice White and a jury on Monday next—but a settlement was subsequently arrived at Counsel for the defendants, it is understood, will make a statement in the court on Monday as part of the terms of settlement
