Ammonia gas pipe bursts

The building of the Auckland Meat Company, Ltd, in Wakefield Street, was evacu- ' ated this morning after a pipe t carrying ammonia gas burst . in the refrigeration system. ' Butchers working in the retail meat shop said the pipe • burst about Ba.m. and two i men had been mildly overi come by escaping gas. They i were treated on the spot by ambulance men and neither: : had to go to hospital. I; Water was used to dampen •the gas, which was then: :: blown out by large fans.
