Reshuffle by Vorster
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) PRETORIA, Nov. 20. The South African Prime Minister (Mr Vorster) today announced Cabinet changes involving three portfolios, but has retained several Ministers whom Opposition spokesmen had forecast he would drop. Mr Vorster relieved Mt Viljoen of the Interior Portfolio, and gave it to the recently-appointed Deputy Minister of Bantu (African) Administration and Development, Mr Gerdener, whose old post will remain vacant for the time being. Mr Viljoen retained his Labour portfolio, and will fill a vacancy caused by the death of the Minister of Posts and Telegraphs, Mr Mathys van Rensburg. The anticipated removal of much-criticised Cabinet members, such as the Minister of Mines (Mr Carl de Wet) and the Minister of Sports (Mr Frank Waring) did not materialise.
