Spy gaoled in France
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) PARIS, Nov. 20. A French citizen, Robert van de Viele, was yesterday sentenced to eight years imprisonment, for passing secret North Atlantic Treaty Organisation documents to a Rumanian diplomat, Mr Mihai Caraman, in 1961. In 1961 van de Viele was employed in the library at the N.A.T.O. headquarters, in Paris. “I was attracted by Cararnan’s personality; he was a very pleasant person," van de Viele said in Court.
