EXPORTS TO AUST. UP
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Nov. 20. Exports to Australia since the signing of the New Zealand-Australia Free Trade Agreement had risen by 139 per cent, the Acting Minister of Overseas Trade (Mr Shelton) said in Parliament today. The agreement had worked to the advantage of both countries, he said. Imports from Australia had risen 46 per cent in the period of the agreement, and the trade imbalance had risen from four--to-one in Australia’s favour to a little more than two-to-one.
