Concerto contest
The Christchurch Civic Music Council’s fourth concerto competition, to be held in December and February, will be for piano concertos. Twenty-eight entries have been received from throughout New Zealand. Professor lan Parrott, Professor of Music at the University of Aberystwyth and visiting examiner for the Trinity College of Music, will be judge for the preliminary section on December 14 and 15 in the University Hall. The council has applied to the Queen Elizabeth II Arts Council for a grant to establish the competition on a firmer basis for the future. It has lost money each time.
