SALES TAX PAYMENT
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Nov. 18. The Government had decided to decline, at this stage, a request from the New Zealand Retail Motor Trade Association that sales-tax on motor vehicles be payable at the time of the retail sale, the Minister of Customs (Mr Adams-Schneider) said in Parliament today. Replying to a question from the junior Opposition Whip (Mr R. L. Bailey), he said that the Government considered, however, that the Aatter should be reviewed next year, in conjunction with the consolidation of the sales-tax legislation, and his department had been instructed accordingly.
