Dalvui likely
“The Press’* Special Service WELLINGTON. Dalvui’s expected return to top form might thwart Flying Crest in his attempt to complete a double for the meeting in the St Andrew’s Handicap at Feilding tomorrow.
Flying Crest led all the way in the Manchester Handicap last Saturday and convincingly beat Dolapal and Sandon. It was something of an upset as far as betters were concerned, but not unexpected by his Awapuni trainer, N. Eales. Flying CreSThaff none of the calibre of Dalvui to contend with last week, and this time the big Hastings chestnut might prove more than a match for his younger rival. Dalvui’s third at Hastings on November'7 looked the forerunner of some good form. It was his fourth start since resuming in the Harcourt Stakes at Trentham last month and must have improved him. With only 8-8, a handicap which he has seldom carried in the last few seasons, Dalvui will probably start favourite.
Flying Crest seems certain to be betters’ second fancy and appears to have just as much edge over the other runners as Dalvui has over him. Zanda’s sprint chance Zanda, Chili and Frivole look the trio to dispute the finish of the second leg, the Colyton Handicap. Fashion Plate was all out to repulse Zanda’s challenge on the first day'of the meeting, and if the Stratford mare has made the expected improvement she should win this time. Chill is the top-weight, and it will be her second start since resuming at Hastings, her home course, on November 7. She does not need much racing to reach her peak so a prominent showing can be reasonably expected.
