Hot-Starting Hint

The most common reason for hard starting while the engine is hot is too rich a mixture in the inlet manifold. The temperature in the engine compartment can reach a point where the heat will build up pressure in the fuel system and force fuel from the carburettor into the manifold. This fuel mixture is far too rich for quick starting and complete combustion. To start the engine under these conditions, the accelerator should be pushed slowly to the floor, opening the throttle wide and admitting as much air

as possible to the manifold to lean out the mixture. As soon as the engine fires, release the accelerator pedal.
