Washed high and dry by the cyclonic tidal wave that devastated the Ganges Delta region of East Pakistan on Friday, this 500ton cargo ship came to rest in a field on a tiny island between Hatia and Bhola. Unofficial estimates reported in Dacca yesterday put the probable final death toll as high as two million although the figure given officially was 34,000 confirmed dead. Relief supplies of food, clothing and medicine flown in from overseas are being stockpiled in Dacca because only one helicopter is available. More details on page 13. —Photograph by cable.
