Multi-hole sold
Mr Wallace McNeill must be feeling a sense of considerable achievement His scheme to find $25 sponsors has “sold” the seventh hole for $5O0 — and already he has seven of the 20 needed to sell the fourteenth where, it is hoped, there will be a special “longest drive” prize, perhaps on a basis of $1 a yard for the biggest drive of the tournament, with the money to go to the Canterbury Sheltered Workshops.
Mr McNeill’s success has brought the number of holes sold to nine. The new shareholders are Capri Hair Fashions, Blakely’s Industries, Ltd, Ayers Panelbeaters, J. H. Wells Panelbeaters, W. J. Scott’s Motors, Ltd, Kevin Daley, Ltd, Len Clarke Panelbeaters, C. Hunton, Ltd, Andrews Electric Golf Buggies and Clark and Blyth, Panelbeaters. In addition, a $2OO patronage has been bought by Merivale Garage, Ltd.
