COLLEGE IN COMMAND

Christ’s College was in a strong position at the end of the first day of its annual cricket match against Otago Boys’ High School, in Christchurch yesterday. College batted first and was all out in just under five hours for 192. The overrate averaged below 12 an hour for the innings. A. W. A. Ormond was top scorer for College with 53 in 135 minutes. J. Wright 42, and G. de Latour 31 and J. Fitchett 17, were the other main contributors. For Otago Brown took four wickets for 45 off 18 overs. Blakely took two for 28 and Eckhoff two for 70.

In an hour’s batting Otago lost four wickets, two from run-outs, and at stumps had 39 runs or the board. A. Smale on 17 was still at the crease. Ormond one for 2 and C. Dampier-Crossley one for II were the wickettakers.
