Games N.Z. record (N.Z. Press Association) HAMILTON. The Commonwealth Games 1500 metres athlete, Mrs V. Robinson (Tokoroa) seems certain to lose the fourth placing in New Zealand record time which she gained at Edinburgh. A film brought back from Edinburgh by Mr M. Cooper (Hamilton), official photo finish officer at the Games, shows that Mrs Robinson finished sixth in the race marked by Mrs Sylvia Potts’s sensational fall, not fourth as officially stated at the time.
Mrs Robinson was credited with a time of 4min 21 sec at the time, 2sec within her own national record set in the United States earlier. If the relegation to sixth place is made her time at Edinburgh will be altered to 4min 232 sec.
Tennis Title.—C. Dlbley (New South Wales) won the men’s singles title at the Australian hard court tennis championships st Toowoomba, Queensland. He beat R. Glltlnan (New South Wales), M 7-6, 64. E. Goolagong beat M. Tesch, 6-3, 7-5, tn the women’s singles final.
