Woman golfer near record
(N.Z. Press Association). INVERCARGILL. But for a seven at the fifteenth hole, the New Plymouth golfer, Miss G. Taylor, would have established an unofficial course record at Otatara yesterday during practice rounds for the New Zealand women’s golf championships, which will begin tomorrow. The women’s record at Otatara is 72 and is held by Mrs R. Guttery who accom, panied Miss Taylor during yesterday’s round. After 14 holes Miss Taylor was four under the card. She had a 73.
Miss S. Hamilton (Otago) will partner Miss Taylor in defence of the foursomes championship and they are bound to be hard to beat.
Miss U. Wickham (Tauranga), last year’s match play champion, partnered Mrs V. Cullen (Canterbury) during a round and was hitting the ball well. The course is in immaculate condition.
