Waihi encouraged by drilling results
(New Zealand Preet Association! AUCKLAND, October 27. Preliminary results of drilling in two areas held by Waihi Exploration and Mining, Ltd, are “tending to establish the possible presence of the type of deposit for which the company is searching,” the chairman (Mr I. W. McKinnon) says in a report. Both areas are near Waihi, where the company is looking for gold and silver.
In the Waitawheta area all holes had entered propyiitised (mineralised) zones. At

this stage they were con-
ted in the assays from the . upper layers—but not in payable quantities. Future drilling would be planned on the basis of these results.
“The presence of these minerals in the oxodised zone is indicative of mineralisation, which at depth could be found to be economic," Mr McKinnon says. In both the Waitawheta and Hikutaia drillings the presence of dissenminated sulphides had been established throughout the full depth of the core. No assay results from the Hikutaia area are yet to hand. As specific results become available, further statements will be issued, the company says.
