has been bought by the N.Z.B.C. There are six halfhour episodes. The story is set in Sidwell, a holiday resort in southwest England, whose mild climate has infected its inhabitants with a lethargy locally termed “The Big M” —Manana. And no-one has the Big M more thoroughly than private detective Johnny Treheme. To him it seems typical of his luck that his first client for 14 weeks dies of heart failure before he can even talk business. But this is a fact which no-one else in town is ready to believe. Within hours of Paul Hassett’s death, Johnny receives offers from the widow, from the daughter, from another detective and from an undercover police inspector. All want to pay Johnny for the information he doesn’t have. And before long Johnny finds himself involved in an investigation which leads to murder and the arrest of the man who had realised that a sleepy resort town could hold rich pickings for a ruthless protection racket. The cast also includes Michael Wynne, Mitzi Rogers, Barry Lineham and Reginald Marsh.
