Declaration on song sought
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Oct. 27. A soldier today sought a declaration from Mr Justice Speight that he was the sole composer of the words and music of the song “Pinocchio.” Sergeant Melvin Phillip Chandler, a physical education instructor, is seeking $2OOO damages from Pamela June Littin, musician (first defendant), D. Desmond Huia, musician (second defendant), the Viking Record Company (third defendant), and Sandy Music Company (fourth defendant). Mr R. P. Smellie is appearing for Chandler; Mr R. K. Davison, Q.C., with him Mr P. M. Salmon, for the first and second defendants; and Mr P. J. Downey for the third and fourth defendants.
