Swedes’ yachts still awaited
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. S. Marklund, manager of the Swedish team for the world O.K. dinghy championships off Takapuna next week is paying close attention to Auckland shipping lists. A freighter is due oh Tuesday carrying the four dinghies. It is already late and the Swedish team fears that it may be later.
“It should have left Sweden on August 20,” said Mr Marklund yesterday. "But it didn’t leave until September 1. We are very worried. We brought our own masts, spars and sails by air,” The Swedes, who have won the championships for the last five years, will practise in borrowed boats until their ship comes in. The championships, sponsored by Rothmans have attracted a world-class field. They will begin bn Thursday. Included in the Swedish team is K. Carlsson, aged 18, winner of the world title last year and winner this year of Swedish and European charo« pionships. '
