Teaching bond
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Oct. 16. . Although thought had been given to withholding a teacher’s certificate until a student had taught three years, instead of enforcing the teaching bond, he Was not convinced at present that it, was- a valid alternative, said the Minister of Education (Mr Taiboys) in answer to a question in Parliament today. In 1969 there were 9240 students at teachers* colleges, he said Bond action was taken against 203 persons, and 346 others were released from bond obligations. He intended meeting a deputation from the Student Teachers’ Association of New Zealand to discuss its proposals on bonding, Mr Talboys said.
