Six holes now sponsored
There has been a 50 per cent increase in the sponsorship of holes for the Christchurch Garden City Classic .golf tournament Since a report in "The Press” yesterday pointed to the possibility of the failure of a tournament which last year was a pronounced success, two more holes have been sponsored—by the Firestone Company, and by M. G. McCaul and Company, Ltd. Firestone has sponsored the eleventh hole, McCaul and Company, Ltd, the ninth. The McCaul sponsorship renews a firm association with the tournament “The Press” pro-am event which precedes the Garden City Classic was won last year by a team consisting of F. Phillips, the Australian professional; C. Haase, of the staff of "The Press” and D. McCaul, one of the principals of the sponsoring firm. The holes sponsored so far are; 1, Benson and Hedges, Ltd; 9, M. G. McCaul, Ltd; 10, Kiwi Bacon Company; 11, Firestone; 16, Wholesale Meat Company; 17,1 Pegasus Press. I
