PUBLIC SERVICE STUDY AWARDS ECONOMICS—LAW—ACCOUNTONCY THE STATE SERVICES Commission is offering bursaries for full-time university study in economics, accounting, and law (Ll.B. only.) Students who expect to gain Higher School Certificate this year or who have already undertaken some university study are eligible to apply. As from 1971 academic year, the Commission is offering increased bursaries of $4OO a year. These bursaries may be held concurrently with any University Bursary or Junior Scholarship. Marriage and boarding allowances may also be paid subject to certain conditions. Nine-tenths of the composite university fee will be paid on behalf of the bursar. The remaining one-tenth and the Students’ Association fee are the bursar’s own responsibility. Successful bursars will be appointed to the perment staff of an appropriate department and will receive training in their departments during the long vacation at normal salary rates. On completion of their studies, bursars will be required to work in the Public Service for the number of years for which assistance has been granted. Applications close on November 27. These awards provide excellent opportunities for students to attend University full-time to complete the degree of Bachelor of Architecture or the Diploma in Architecture at the University of Auckland, thus enabling them to qualify professionally for a career in the Public Service. School leavers who have included physics and mathematics in their University Entrance and Higher School Certificate passes are eligible to apply. After graduation successful applicants are required to serve in the Public Service for a number of years equal to that for which assistance has been granted.
