Fulfilment in sight
The Sydney Opera House will be opened in March, 1973, 14 years after workmen began building the sail-roofed structure on the shores of Sydney Harbour. Dogged by unprecedented design problems and controversy over its cost —now, at s9om, almost 10 times higher than the original estimate—the opera house will open with a festival. Within five years, it is expected that it will be working at full capacity as a centre for the performing arts.—Sydney, October 15.
