Chathams stamps
Two stamps featuring the Chatham Islands will be released by the Post Office in December. The 1c stamp will show the Chatham Island lily and the 2c (pictured above), a mollyhawk. Both have been designed by Miss E. Mayo, of Christchurch. The predominant colours are mauve, green, and blue in the Ic, and green, blue and grey in
the 2c variety. They have been printed by the Government Printing Bureau, Tokyo by photogravure. A special date stamp will be used at Waitangi, the main settlement on the islands, on December 2, and the Chief Post Office in Christchurch has made arrangements for special first-day covers to go to the islands.
