Uniform dog by-law

All councils in metropolitan Christchurch will be asked to join in adopting a uniform by-law for the control of dogs and for the banning of gin traps. This decision was reported to the Waimairi County Council on Thursday evening, the chairman (Mr D. B. Rich) saying that local body represenatives and interested parties, at a joint meeting, had asked that a sub-committee of local body staff be set up to draft the by-law. “The feeling was that once we have a uniform by-law that will remove the differences that now exist in the various council by-laws, we should pursue it hard,” said Mr Rich. When the draft had been prepared another meeting of the parties would be held, he said.
