It strengthened its position at the head of the fifth and last group, composed of 12 teams with the lowest scores in the qualifying rounds. With four finals rounds played. New Zealand has scored 13.5 points and is 3.5 ahead of its nearest challenger, Turkey. Results of Group 1 matches (with the number of unfinished games in brackets) were: Third Round.—Czechoslovakia
