Govt to pay $1.8m
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Sept. 18. The Government will ‘'tax itself”—by way of payroll tax paid by the Railways and Post Office Departments—a total of $1,810,000 this year. This was revealed in Parliament today by the Associate Minister of Finance (Mr Pickering), in reply to a question from Mr J. G. O’Brien (Lab., Island Bay).
