Expansion by Ballins
Simons Proprietary, Ltd, and Coruba Distributors, Ltd, of Whangarei, have been sold to Ballins Industries, Ltd. Both firms were wholly owned subsidiaries of Simons I Breweries, Ltd. The price has not been disclosed but the consideration will be shares in Ballins Industries, Ltd, and in New 'Zealand Breweries, Ltd, of which Ballins is the largest i individual shareholder. The unaudited net profit of South Otago Freezing Company, Ltd, rose $57,982—0r 20.4 per cent—to $341,736 in the year to August 31, the directors announced in a pre[liminary statement. The dividend is held steady at 10 per cent. It will be paid on October 30, ex dividend i October 17.
