Hussein as ‘ham’
(N.Z. Press Assn. —Copyright) LONDON, September 18. While civil war ranged in Jordan, King Hussein talked over his amateur radio set on Wednesday night with fellow “hams” in Europe and America. “This is JY one-Hussein on the mike,” was the call sign picked up by scores of ‘ham’ operators. They reported the king sounded confident and cheerful. He told Mr Gordon Vine, a British ham: “Once in a! while we get a bit of a blast-! ing here. We are putting our; house in order and soon it! will all be organised.” King Hussein has regularly been on the amateur wavelengths since March, when his British-bom wife, Princess Muna, now in London, bought him a transmitter as a birthday present
