World Council of Churches
Sir, —The decision of the World Council of Churches to help finance African terrorists is nothing else but promoting the advance of communism in Africa. At
i least five of the organisations mentioned as recipients 'of aid have provided Africans, trained by Chinese and armed with Chinese or Russian weapons, to carry out crimes of violence such as murder and arson, which have been aimed at all sections of the population, including women and children. The object, of course, to obtain support through intimidation. The council, as a result of world-wide protests, has said that the money will not be used for military purposes. At the same time it says that it will have no control on how it will be spent. From now on the church must be regarded as 100 per I cent suspect, as money given j for charity could well be used to release a similar I amount to help subsidise terrorist activities.—Yours, THE WALRUS.
