(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) HOLLINWELL (England). C. O’Connor, the indestructible Irishman, received the biggest cheque of his career when he won the $53,575 first prize in the John Player classic golf tournament on Sunday. But the 45-year-old O’Connor had only a shot to spare after a last-round challenge by A. Jacklin (Britain). O’Connor finished with a two-under-par total of 286 after an even-par final round of 72. Jacklin had a three-under-par 69 to finish with 287. P. Gill and N. Coles (both Britain), were next on 289. W. Godfrey (New Zealand) ended on 298.
