Arts And Music Sculpture For New Building
A big steel sculpture commissioned from Tom Taylor, of Christchurch, for the new 13-storey 1.8. M. office building in The Terrace, Wellington, is nearing completion in a Christchurch engineering works. The sculpture, made of corrosion-resistant corten steel, is 141 ft high and 17ft long. The sculpture will be one of a group of art objects In the building.
The AJUJ*. Society, which owns the building, has commissioned a painting from John Drawbridge, of Wellington, and this will be hung in the foyer, with a group of four hand-sewn leather chairs, and a glassslab table set on a handwoven carpet made by Joan Calvert. The photograph shows an employee of the firm, Sherlock and Cotton, with Mr Taylor’s sculpture.
