Damage To Bridge
(From Our Own Reporter) GREYMOUTH, Sept 4. Considerable damage was done to the Perseverance Bridge which crosses the Inangahua River, during last week’s flooding. The bridge, which is about 300 feet long, crosses the river at a narrow section, but is not wide enough to span the river in flood. Water overflowed the northern bank, and cut across the access road to the bridge, isolating one end of it The Westland Catchment Board engineer (Mr H. E. Clarke) said that a party of his staff was at present occupied with investigations into ways to contain the overflow. Results from these surveys should be available next week.
