Mixed Trading On Australian Markets

Mining shares closed below their best on Australian stock exchanges yesterday. Interest was mainly confined to the cheaper speculatives and industrials and oils were variable.

Queensland Mmes ended the day 50c lower after sales up to 2700 c in early trading. Kathleen Investments and I Mary Kathleen forged ahead, and Peko put on 20c. Great Boulder improved slightly although Western Mining lost ground. M.F.C. and Loloma were unchanged. Metals Exploration was probably the best of the larger mining houses, gaining 40c.

North Kalgurli added 50c after news of the proposed share split.

Elsewhere. V.A.M. lost another sc, while C.R.A. came back 20c but Hamersley improved. Oils were generally firm although turnover was small. Clarence attracted most interest, adding 3c to 25c. Leading industrials were generally firm and 8.H.P.,
