The spectacle of the Deputy Prime Minister (Mr Marshall) stammering on the television network was no doubt as lacking in assurance for the apple and pear grower as it was for the general public, the Social Credit Leader (Mr J. O’Brien) said yesterday.

“Mr Marshall’s reference to 300 million customers within the expanded Common Market was the fabrication of an opinion outside the bounds of reality,” Mr O’Brien said. “These people have always been there, and it is patently absurd to suggest that our apples and pears will be any more popular when a stiff tariff is an element of a new and higher price range.”
