Star Of Comedy Hit
Patrick Macnee, the debonaire “Steed” of the television series, “The Avengers,” shown in his leading role in “The Secretary Bird.” It is in conjunction with this comedy hit that “The Press” is running a contest to find the best “secretary bird” in Christchurch.
Have you entered the “Secretary Bird” contest being run by “The Press” yet? If you are young, well-groomed and work in an office you might well be the winner and be a special guest at the Christchurch opening night of “The Secretary Bird,” starring Patrick Macnee, and attend an after-show function with the cast
The contest is now well under way and a number of entries have already come to hand.
If you want to enter, or if there is someone in your office who you think should enter, send us a photograph, or, if one is not available, telephone Mrs P. Hullett, at “The Press” (69-799, extension 808) and arrangements will be made for a photograph to be taken. Starting on Friday a daily selection of entrants’ photographs will be published. The names of the six finalists will be announced on September 18 and each of them will receive a presentation pen and pencil set. Patrick Macnee, the debonaire “Steed” of “The Avengers,” will choose the likeliest “secretary bird” from the six photographs, and the result will be announced on September 21.
The winner will receive tickets for two for the opening night of the play and an invitation to attend an aftershow function where she will meet Patrick Macnee. She will also have the use of a car for the evening. All photographs sent to The Press” must be posted to arrive no later than 10 a.m. on September 17, and should be clearly labelled with name, address and telephone number. With the photographs should also be sent a brief
biography, giving the entrant’s position and the name of the firm for which she works, her age, interests and ambitions. Entries should be mailed to “Secretary Bird” Contest, C/o ‘The Press,” P.O. Box 1005, Christchurch. A stamped addressed envelope of suitable size should be included if the photograph is to be returned.
