Eighteen • year - old Alison Hope, a cosmetician and parttime model, from Taradale, was chosen, from 18 contestants, to be “Blossom Queen” when the Hastings Blossom Festival opened with a carnival at the Hastings racecourse yesterday. Miss Hope, one of five girls in her family, will leave on a two-week trip to Toowoomba, in Australia, the major part of her prize, on September 17.
