Chess Win By N.Z. Team
(N.Z. Press Association) , WELLINGTON. The New Zealand chess team defeated Singapore, 3$ games to li games, in a chess match played last week. In a letter received by the Press Association, A. J 5. Hollander, of Christchurch, fiaid the match was the first played by a New Zealand representative team, and was regarded as a training match for the championships in Germany this month. O. Sarapu, the New ‘Zealand champion, beat his opponent in only 16 moves. Scores were: O. Sairapu 1, Pang Kwok Leong 0; B. R. Anderson 1, Leslie Leow 0; C. Evans 1, Choong Leong On 0; G. A. Kerr 0, Andrew Be 1; Hollander i, Mok Kwan Ylie i.
