A Mataura girl died in the burning wreck of a late-model car when it hit a concrete bridge four miles east of Riversdale early this morning.

The car, travelling from Riversdale to Gore, hit the side of the bridge at 4 a.m. and burst into flames immediately.
The Gore and Riversdale fire brigades were able to put out the fire before it reached the car’s petrol tank.
