INDUSTRIALS FIND FAVOUR IN CONTRAST TO MINERS
The New Zealand sharemarket ended the week with renewed interest in leading industrials but rises were generally small. A fall of 19c by L and M Oil, and its suspension after the morning call was the main feature of yesterday’s trading in mining and oil stocks.
Ballins shares were marked up 11c in response to the bonus. Trading in rights, to issues being made by Dominion Breweries, L. D. Nathan and Tappenden, was quite active. L. D. Nathan rights stood out with a jump of 4c to 25c. " Arnold and Wright, and Smith and Brown were two of the second line stocks to make useful gains. Feltex, National Insurance and N.Z. Forest Products were among the leaders to improve and U.E.B. recovered 4c. Minvest traded below par at 49c in the easier mining and oil market.
