HOCKEY Dunedin Canterbury became the strongest contender to win Section 1 of the national colts hockey tournament at Dunedin yesterday by defeating Otago, 2-0. Canterbury has only to play Nelson, which was beaten. 6-1, by Otago in a later match yesterday. It would appear that Canterbury will meet Auckland for the title, held by Canterbury, on Friday. Yesterday’s results: Section I.—Canterbury 2, Otago A 0; Nelson 5, Central Districts 0; Eastern Districts 5. Hawera Canterbury and Taranaki A reached the semi-finals when section play was completed on the third day of the Hatch Cup national primary schoolboys’ tournament yesterday.
