The Government has agreed to release up to 50 Department of Agriculture meat inspectors to work in Victoria and New South Wales where they were needed urgently. The Acting Minister of Agriculture (Mr Maclntyre) said today that, the request for as--1 slstance had been made to , the Minister of Agriculture ■ (Mr Carter) who was attendi ing the Food and Agriculture , Organisation regional conferI ence at Canberra.

“Qualified meat Inspectors are needed to ease the pressure of work on Australian inspectors and we shall release up to 50 providing they can be returned before the beginning of the New Zealand meat killing season on November 1,” the Minister said. Salaries, fares and allowances would be paid by the Australian Government.
