GREYMOUTH TRACK
Damage By Flooding (N.Z. Press Association) GREYMOUTH. The Greymouth Trotting club may have to consider an alternative venue for its October meetings if the surface of the Victoria Park Raceway limestone track, badly damaged in Monday’s flooding, cannot be repaired In time. A dawn Inspection on Tuesday morning by club members showed extensive scouring in the front and back straights. Water is still feet deep in the centre oval and yesterday was showing little sign of subsiding.
Water also entered boxes and shelters in the stabling area. Many trainers have lost quantities of oats and chaff.
The flooding is an especially severe blow to the club, as it had only just completely resurfaced the track with lime for the coming season, at a cost of almost $lOOO
