Special Role Of Women
The failure of educated women to take positive action in the spheres of education, the family, civic and international responsibility, mass media, and the dissemination of information was a failure of their duty to mankind, it was said at the national conference of the New Zealand Federation of University Women. “We have allowed masculine qualities to dominate and have not made our voices heard,” said the public affairs committee of the Canterbury branch.
The report dealt with the first section of the conference study theme—the preservation of the liberties of the mind, the unrestricted pursuit of’ objective truth, and the free exchange of ideas and knowledge. The convener of the committee (Miss Naomi Corder), who presented the report, said that the committee hoped that the choice of the common-stuuy theme would produce more than discussion in the world-wide Federation of University Women.
