Building Levy Commended
(N.Z. Press Association)
WELLINGTON, Sept. 2;
New Zealand legislation authorising a levy for building research had aroused international interest, the director of the Building Research Association, Dr V. R. Gray, said today. He has just returned from an Australian conference, where he met the directors of most of the building research stations in the English-speaking world. In a supplied statement, he said that the other directors —from the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia and South Africa — had been “most interested” in the manner in which New Zealand was financing its building research. This is through a levy calculated on the capital value of buildings and paid by the builders themselves.
