Sports Needs Of University
The University of Canterbury had a “good distance to go” before it could equal facilities offered for physical recreation available at similarsized universities overseas, the Vice-Chancellor (Professor N. C. Phillips) told Monday’s meeting of the university council. Professor Phillips was commenting on a report submitted by the university’s physical education officer (Mr A. S. Lewis) on the results of study leave overseas.
"The problems of building a centre, particularly in time for the general move to Ham (in 1974), are causing me considerable concern,” Professor Phillips said.
